Many people overlook the importance of cemetery property for those who choose cremation, but permanent placement, or “final disposition,” of the ashes or “cremated remains” is an important part of final arrangements. Just consider:
A permanent site gives loved ones and friends a physical place for visitation and reflection.
The ceremony accompanying the placement of an urn in a cremation garden in a cemetery provides family and friends with closure after the loss of a loved one.
When ashes of a loved one are kept with relatives, they can easily become misplaced or discarded through the years, as future generations may not feel a connection to the deceased.
A permanent placement provides future generations with a location to visit when researching their heritage. Millennials are looking for connections to their ancestors because they have grown up in such a mobile society.
A constant place of healing
In this busy world of ours, it’s so easy to dismiss our feelings towards death and try to move forward. The grieving process is so important, and it’s essential to our mental health to take time to properly heal from our loss, instead of trying to jump right back into routines. A lot of people choose cremation for themselves thinking it will be the easiest thing for everyone, but it doesn’t end there. What is to be done with your ashes? This is the big unanswered question and can cause a lot of undue stress for your loved ones. Scattering ashes is a nice idea, but it says nothing for your legacy, there is nowhere for future generations to come to learn about their heritage.
We have a video series by Mrs. Barbara Sanders on our Facebook page, where she talks about her personal experience with the importance of a final resting place. You can watch the videos here.
You have several options when it comes to the interment of cremains, we have a very special cremation garden called the Garden of Serenity, A Place of Peace- our columbarium, or you can chose a more traditional location which is common if you already have loved ones buried at our park and would like to be near them. Our experienced staff is here to help guide you through these decisions and to help customize your plan to be unique to you and leave a lasting legacy future generations can come to visit and enjoy.
